Railroad crossing in Cresson again blocked by malfunctioning arms

For the fourth time this week, traffic is backing up at the Cresson intersection of Highway 377 and 171, according to Precinct 4 Commissioner Steve Berry and other sources. Berry says the crossing arms are malfunctioning again, as they did during morning rush hour Wednesday, which caused a back-up three miles long. Berry texted the HCN at 2:50 p.m. (Thursday, Jan. 24) that Hood County deputies, as well as representatives of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), are on the scene. Emergency dispatch was flooded with calls, he reported, and citizens were trying to lift the gates themselves when deputies arrived on the scene.
