Most of the agenda items for Tuesday’s (Aug. 20) regular meeting of the Granbury City Council have to do with the coalition strategy for fighting the Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) permit request for additional water rights from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). A hearing before judges with the State Office of Administrative Hearings will be held next week – on Monday, Aug. 26. The City Council agenda includes items allowing for Mayor Pro Tem Nin Hulett to sign an agreement letter allowing attorneys with the Haynes and Boone law firm to represent the city in the water rights fight, and for two council members to be nominated for the Lake Granbury Coalition – a collaborative effort between the city, the county and the Lake Granbury Waterfront Owners Association and Friends (LGWOA). The consent agenda contains an item calling for the creation of a checking account to handle monetary contributions to the Coalition for the purpose of legal fees to be paid to the Haynes and Boone firm.
