A Granbury city councilman wins, but a fellow councilman is defeated in Tuesday’s election while the recreation center passes by a wide majority. Laurel Pirkle was re-elected to the council with 57% of the vote over former city manager Harold Sandel (21%) and Keith Tipton (22%). Councilman Mitch Tyra was defeated by Gary Couch (61.5%). The rec center passed with 58% of the vote. Republican Cotton Howell (80%) was elected justice of the peace over Democrat Nick Cangiamilla, and the JP beer and wine issue passes with 65% of the vote. In Tolar, the school bond issue passes with 54% of the vote, and school trustee Terry Leatherman (55%) defeated Brooks Goodson, and Bill Gilliam (62%) topped Tommy Matthews.
