Granbury City Council member Gary Couch made a motion Tuesday night (Feb. 5) to move forward with bids based on drawings for the Granbury Opera House that have just been approved by the Opera House Redevelopment Committee. The unanimous vote in support of the motion was one of 12 unanimous votes Tuesday night – signalling the first council meeting in quite some time that council members’ votes were in sync. The vote was met with enthusiastic applause, and means that the actual construction work will finally get under way within the next few weeks, after months of delays. However, various design aspects approved by the committee have raised the price tag from $2.2 million to around $3 million.
