November 3, 2012

Overheating forced one of the two reactors at Comanche Peak nuclear power plant near Glen Rose in Somervell County to be shut down manually by plant operators at 1:42 a.m. on Friday, according to a report on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s website. The information states that “conditions are stable” and “all safety systems functioned as designed.” The procedure to service the water-cooling pump is ongoing, and is classified as a “non-emergency” incident. The plant is operated by Dallas-based Luminant Generation Co.
