Hood County Fire Marshal Ray Wilson said Tuesday that the fire reported just after 4 p.m. Monday on Baker’s Crossing Road northwest of Paluxy burned approximately 5 acres of land in heavily wooded, rough terrain. The fire began south of Baker’s Crossing Road, but jumped to the north side of the roadway and came within about 10 feet of a garage before the flames were headed off by firefighters. A small metal lean-to used for animals was damaged on that same property. There were no reports of injuries, Wilson said.
