Fernando Sanchez Zapata, 65, of the Brazos River Acres subdivision in southeastern Hood County, received a 30-year prison sentence in a plea agreement Monday in 355th Judicial District Court after pleading guilty to molesting two family members who were under the age of 14, Hood County District Attorney Rob Christian said. A conviction on Zapata’s charge, continuous sexual abuse of a young child or children, requires that he must serve every day of the sentence without possibility for early release through parole.
