Lipan High School graduate dies after two-vehicle crash

Courtney Kay Smalley, 18, a 2012 graduate of Lipan High School who has been attending Tarleton State University, on Sunday was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that also killed three other people on U.S. Highway 281, 7.5 miles north of Morgan Mill, according to DPS Senior Trooper Dub Gillum. The crash also killed the passenger in Smalley’s car, Kimberly Genice Peacock, 19, of Fort Worth, also a TSU student, and two from Arkansas in the other vehicle. The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m., and all four were pronounced dead at 6 p.m. by an Erath County justice of the peace.
