Keffer, Birdwell send letter to BRA regarding water pump fees

State Rep. Jim Keffer and state Sen. Brian Birdwell have sent a letter to the board president and general manager of the Brazos River Authority asking that the BRA “give consideration to developing a plan of relief” for those who have water use permits, similar to the River Authority’s “gracious” decision to waive dock fees. Permit owners have received their annual bill of $45.95, and payment is due to the BRA by Feb. 1. Many report being unable to water their lawns with lake water because of record low lake levels. The lawmakers said they have been contacted about the issue by “a large number of constituents.”
