Jury deciding fate of man from Lavon accused in shooting

A jury in Judge Ralph Walton’s 355th Judicial District Court began deliberation shortly before noon Friday in the trial of 39-year-old Justin Davis Johnson, a resident of Lavon, who is accused of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a December 2011 shooting incident on a hunting lease near Tolar that left one man permanently paralyzed from the waist down, according to officials. The punishment range could be from two years of probation up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if Johnson is found guilty. Jury selection in the trial began Monday.
