Judge’s finance ruling no surprise to schools

A district judge’s ruling that the state does not adequately fund public education is not surprising to school superintendents. “At this point, Judge (John) Dietz’s ruling serves as an affirmation to what many already knew,” Lipan School Superintendent Cindy Edwards said. “The state will go through a lengthy process of developing changes to the school finance system. The Legislature could be pro-active and make changes this session, but I do not see a major overhaul of the finance system this legislative session. We are hopeful that enrollment growth will be funded which will impact Lipan ISD since we have seen a growth of approximately 40 students over the past two years.”
