Injured Granbury police officer to be honored in Austin ceremony

Granbury Police Officer Chad Davis will receive a Star of Texas Award, created by the Texas Legislature to honor peace officers, firefighters and emergency medical first responders killed or seriously injured in the line of duty after Sept. 1, 2003. Davis was seriously injured in a shootout near Granbury City Hall by the Town Square in late June. It happened just minutes after Deputy Sgt. Lance McLean was mortally wounded by the same suspect after responding to a disturbance call at Oak Trail Shores. Davis is among several law enforcement officers credited with likely having saved lives that day through heroism and quick thinking. Police Chief Mitch Galvan said he intends to be present with Davis at the awards ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, in Austin.
