A total of 29 horses suffering from malnutrition were rescued from a ranch Monday in southeastern Hood County, with Hood County Animal Control and the Hood County Animal Emergency Issues Committee partnering with the North Texas Humane Society (Fort Worth), according to Hood County Sheriff’s Office Captain A.T. Vines. The 29 horses were safely transported to various Humane Society locations in North Texas, Vines added. The owner of the horses assisted and cooperated in the efforts and also agreed in writing to allow close monitoring of the remainder of his horses (approximately 40). No criminal charges were filed, the captain said.
