Winning the grand champion’s steer trophy in the county fair doesn’t exactly having a calming effect. “I’m so shocked,” said a shaking but smiling Acton eighth-grader Macey Burch after she and her 1,300-pound steer won top honors Friday afternoon in the 58th Hood County Livestock Show. Granbury senior Brodi Markum won reserve grand champion steer. Earlier, a pair of Lipan FFA members won top prizes in the heifer show – Tallen Halliday the grand champ and Trevor Hedeman reserve. Tolar FFA swept the goat show – Morgan Jackson the grand champ and Katie Keith reserve.
