A 21-year-old man who was one of two suspects working together in a theft case at Walmart Thursday afternoon led Granbury Police Department officers on two foot chases, Lieutenant Cliff Andrews said. One of the men left in a vehicle, but officers used pepper spray on the other suspect who was on foot so they took him to Lake Granbury Medical Center for treatment. When the police pulled up and opened the patrol car door to escort the suspect into the hospital, he bolted again before being quickly apprehended in a nearby neighborhood, according to emergency scanner traffic. The man is charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses: possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest/detention, escape from custody and failing to identify as a fugitive. Two police officers who sustained minor injuries when passing through a barbed-wire fence during the foot chase were treated and released, Andrews noted.
