Gov. Perry asks school districts to review emergency operation plans

In the aftermath of the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., Gov. Rick Perry on Friday requested that Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams oversee a review of emergency operation plans for Texas school districts to ensure that they are prepared to respond to potential threats. “It is essential that we ensure all Texas schools are equipped and ready to carry out a strategic plan to secure the safety of students and staff in the event of a threat such as the one that occurred today,” Perry said Friday.
