Free disaster preparedness training offered for CERT volunteers

June 7, 2013

New members are being sought for Hood County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Anyone can get involved free of charge, according to coordinator Stephanie Parker. To become a member of the local team you must attend three upcoming Saturday meetings – June 15, 22 and 29 (9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) – at the Acton/deCordova Bend Estates Volunteer Fire Department Station. The CERT training is to educate people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the area, and provides training in basic disaster response skills. For more information call Parker at the Fire Marshal’s Office, at 817-579-3335.
