Four students test positive for drugs each year

September 19, 2012

The Granbury school district tests 45 students randomly each quarter for illegal drugs. The students participate in extracurricular activities at Granbury High School, Crossland Ninth Grade Center, Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School. Positive results have averaged about four students annually for each of the last four school years. Consequences are: first offense – completion of a drug awareness program; second offense – suspension from extracurricular activities for 90 calendar days; third offense – suspension from extracurriculars for one calendar year. This does not include any school disciplinary action that may also be imposed.
