Former Navy torpedoman, 94, recalls Pearl Harbor

On this day (Dec. 7) in 1941 Jack Williamson was serving as a torpedoman in the Navy, stationed at the Pearl Harbor submarine base in Hawaii, when Japanese bombers attacked the U.S. aircraft carriers based nearby. In todya’s (Dec. 8) Hood County News, Williamson, 94, a native of Hood County, recalls that dramatic day that prompted the United States to enter World War II by declaring war on Japan the following day.
