Flores: “Our fiscal condition far worse than Greece”

December 21, 2012

Republican Congressman Bill Flores, who represents the 17th district, which included Hood County prior to re-districting, has released a media statement regarding the “fiscal cliff.” Flores blamed President Obama’s policies for a “fiscal gap” that he says has grown 50 percent since 2008, and said that the administration’s “culture of wasteful spending and fiscal irresponsibility” needs to be curbed. “America is now in the eleventh hour, the House has passed numerous proposals and now the president and Senate Democrats need to come up with a realistic plan to avert imminent tax rate increases and stop out of control spending,” the media statementreleased Friday (Dec. 21) says. “It is imperative that this plan include spending restraints and tax and regulatory policies which encourage American job creation and economic growth.” The HCN has made several attempts to get a statement about the fiscal cliff from the county’s new congressman, Mike Conaway (R-Midland) of the 11th District, but as yet has not yet been successful.
