Congressman Mike Conaway (R-Midland) honored five Hood County high school students with nominations to the United States service academies during a ceremony Thursday at Granbury City Hall. The congressional nomination is one step in the process to being appointed to one of four service academies. The students must still receive official appointments from the academies. Granbury students honored were: Chandler Chiappe – nominated for Merchant Marine and Naval; Dakota Doucet – nominated for Air Force and Naval; Peter Mueller – nominated for Merchant Marine, Military and Naval; Guy Wright – nominated for Air Force; and Tolar student Carly Knapp who has already accepted an appointment to the Naval academy.
