A Facebook page called “Gartman House Project” has been created by Brad Smith to help VonSteffen “Shadow” Gartman, who is dying of cancer, and his wife, Amy. Donna Greenlaw Banker is serving as a volunteer coordinator for those who offer assistance through the Facebook site. The Gartmans are  trying to move to a small “cabinette” in Oak Trail Shores because their home in northern Hood County is about to go into foreclosure. “Shadow” likely has just weeks to live. The couple has many struggles, including the need to find homes for six English Mastiff dogs. They had operated a rescue for the large canines before “Shadow” fell ill and when both were making a living as truck drivers.
