The Texas DPS has released statistics that show troopers made more than 1,800 DWI arrests during a special enforcement period, which included the Labor Day holiday. The targeted enforcement was from Aug. 19 through Sept. 5, and included additional patrol hours funded by a Texas Department of Transportation grant. Of the 1,859 DWI arrests, 524 were a direct result of the increased patrols, according to the DPS.
