The Texas Department of State Health Services is advising that precautions should be taken now to avoid mosquito bites that may lead to West Nile illness. The season can last until the first hard freeze later this year. Use mosquito repellant, drain standing water on your property, wear long sleeves and pants when outside, and make sure there are screens on all doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out.
