DA: Scrimshire no longer faces murder charge

February 6, 2014

Thomas Lynn Scrimshire, 56, of deCordova, is no longer facing a murder charge after the grand jury on Wednesday delivered a no bill in the Jan. 12 shooting death of his stepson, 39-year-old Crowley resident Michael Brian Hampton, District Attorney Rob Christian said. Scrimshire was released from the Hood County Jail late Wednesday afternoon. Christian explained that Scrimshire shot Hampton three times after Hampton kicked in the door to Scrimshire’s bedroom after a disturbance.
