County officials getting things in order for Austin hearing

July 23, 2013

Members of the Commissioners Court on Tuesday (July 23) met with County Attorney Lori Kaspar to make sure “all our i’s are dotted and our t’s are crossed” – according to Precinct 4 Commissioner Steve Berry - regarding requirements for “party status” in the Brazos River Authority’s request to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for more water rights. At least some members of the Commissioners Court, as well as possibly Kaspar or a member of her office staff, will be in Austin on Aug. 26, when judges with the State Office of Administrative Hearings will decide whether to give Hood County “party status.” Berry said that the judges will rule on the additional water rights issue in April.
