Commissioners squelch plans for RV park at Bootlegger

A request by the owner of the Bootlegger liquor store to put in an RV park at the store’s Fall Creek Highway location died for lack of a second to Commissioner Dick Roan’s motion for approval. Since the lack of a second meant that no vote was taken, the request can be brought back at a future meeting. County Judge Darrell Cockerham said that commissioners were concerned because the project meets only the minimum safety standards set by the state. Environmental Health Director James McAusland said the project does not meet “county regs.” The development commission had advised against approving the request.
