Commissioners approve burn ban

The Hood County Commissioners Court has approved a burn ban at the request of Fire Marshal Ray Wilson, who cited continuing drought conditions. At the Court’s regular meeting Tuesday (Aug. 13) morning, Wilson said that a ban on outdoor burning could prevent a similar fire that happened over the weekend in Benbrook. The grass burned 150 acres, threatened the Walmart store as well as apartment complexes and required a 13-department response from Tarrant and Parker counties, he said.
