City votes to partner with county, LGWOA on BRA fight

The Granbury City Council voted Tuesday night (Aug. 13) to contribute $100,000 to the pot to have the Haynes and Boone law firm represent the community’s interest regarding the Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) request to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for additional water rights. The funding is contingent upon equal contributions by the Hood County Commissioners Court and the Lake Granbury Waterfront Owners Association. The Commissioners Court has already agreed to its share of the funding. According to City Attorney Stuart Neal, the city will also continue to be represented by water rights attorney Ken Ramirez.
