City settles McIlvain lawsuit

After a closed session Tuesday night (June 4), the Granbury City Council voted on a settlement that will end the lawsuit filed against the city by former Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Charlie McIlvain. No settlement amount was disclosed in the motion made by Tony Allen and seconded by Gary Couch. After the meeting, City Attorney Stuart Neal declined to give details about the agreement, saying that paperwork sealing the deal needs to be done before the settlement amount is disclosed. McIlvain, who had won several awards from the tourism industry, had claimed age discrimination.
