In response to a joint letter sent Monday to the Brazos River Authority (BRA) by state Sen. Brian Birdwell and state Rep. Jim Keffer, Dave Scott, presiding officer of the BRA board of directors, has asked that annual water usage fees be placed on the agenda for the Jan. 27 board meeting. Scott sent a letter to the lawmakers on Wednesday (Jan. 8) informing them of that action. Many property owners around Lake Granbury have complained about annual water usage fees of $45.95, which are due to the River Authority by Feb. 1. Birdwell and Keffer have asked the BRA to provide “relief” for water use permit holders who have been unable to pump water for their lawns due to continuing low lake levels. They also have expressed concern about costs involved in cancelling and later reinstating the permits.
