Beware: In wake of flash flooding, more thunderstorms likely

There is a 60 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms predicted for Granbury and Hood County Saturday evening (Aug. 18), mostly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Flash flooding was already a problem in various spots throughout the county earlier in the afternoon, so residents should be aware that unnecessary travel is not recommended because of the potential danger of deceptively deep water flowing across roadways, and the threat of vehicles becoming stranded or even washed off the roadway particularly as night falls. Sunday’s forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 1 p.m.
