Auditor: County in excellent financial shape

In a presentation to the Hood County Commissioners Court Tuesday morning (June 11) about an independently commissioned fiscal report, County Auditor Stan McBroom reported that the county has a Double-A bond rating, which he attributed partly to an “across-the-board excellent performance” of those who head county offices. McBroom noted that the county’s credit rating is much better now than it was in 2006, when its score was “a triple B-minus.” McBroom commended the court for its leadership, and said that the county’s “six months’ cash flow in the bank” helped local government efficiently handle the aftermath of the May 15 tornado.
