American Legion Post 491, which was used as a vital triage location for most of those seriously injured in the May 15 tornado that slammed through the Rancho Brazos subdivision killing six and injuring dozens, is still undergoing structural repairs that caused it to be shut down following the storm, post officials said. The roof has been repaired, but an outbuilding was destroyed and a brick wall in back must be replaced. There were lots of broken windows, and the office “was pretty much torn up,” public relations officer and sergeant-at-arms Jack Sides said. “The target date is within the next two weeks,” he said of the reopening of the post.
