Airport expansion set to take off

The Granbury City Council agreed Tuesday (Nov. 13) to send a letter of thanks to TxDOT’s Aviation Division for its help in funding expansion of Granbury Regional Airport. Gary Hawkins, TxDOT’s airports manager, was in attendance at the council meeting, and told the elected officials that TxDOT is “financially ready” with “$7.83 million in the kitty.” City Manager Wayne McKethan said that $14 million in funding is being provided for the project between TxDOT’s Aviation Division and the Federal Aviation Administration. McKethan said that dirt will likely be moved within the next few months.
