Youngsters are invited to grab their fishing gear and head down to Squaw Creek Lake Marina Saturday for the 22nd Annual Hood/Somervell County Youth Fish Day Saturday. The event is from 9-11 a.m., with gates opening at 8 a.m.
The free event is sponsored by the Texas Game Warden Association and Somervell County 4-H.
After the fishing is completed, all participants will line up for a free photo, which will be followed by a free hot dog lunch.
In fact, even if a child does not have a pole, the invitation stands. The Texas Game Warden Association will issue a fishing rod for the day. Also, worms will be provided to youths as bait.
Non-youth will have to furnish their own equipment and bait. All youngsters must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, but that person does not have to fish.
Identification is required at registration, and all names (adults and youths) will be requested.
For more information, or to make a donation or volunteer, call the Somervell County Game Wardens office at 254-897-7997 or the Somervell County Extension Office at 254-897-2809.
