Win slips by Rattlers late

January 11, 2014

The Tolar Rattlers had their second District 10-2A victory of the season within their sights Tuesday night.

Instead, they dropped a 53-52 home contest to Grandview when what would have been the winning shot bounced away as the final buzzer sounded.

Grandview had taken the lead with a dozen seconds left.

“We set up an inbounds play and had a good look at the final shot, but that’s the way it goes sometimes,” said Tolar coach Kent Caruthers.

Heston Buckalew led Tolar with a dozen points. T.J. Foster pulled down nine rebounds.

“I had some young kids who came in when we had to sit our starters with foul trouble, and I was very pleased with what they did,” said Caruthers.
