Neither district foes or even nature could end the streak.
For a sixth consecutive season coach Becky Addison has players competing in a regional golf tournament.
Chelsea Judge, a junior, will be joined by freshman Alexis Gapinski next Wednesday and Thursday at the Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene. The duo were the top two individuals not on a qualifying team at the 7-4A Tournament this past Wednesday and Thursday at Pecan Valley’s River Course near Lake Benbrook.
Judge, playing for the Granbury A team, was sixth overall with a 192 (96-96) over two days. Gapinski, playing for the B squad, was eighth overall, shooting 195 (96-99).
A third Granbury player, freshman Tifton Puckett of the B team, is the first alternate after shooting 198 (100-98).
“I am so proud of these girls,” said Lady Pirate coach Becky Addison. “They fought so hard, and they truly deserve to be making the trip to regionals.”
The Lady Pirates A team trailed second-place Aledo Orange by 25 strokes after the first day and made up 20 of those strokes Thursday, finishing with an 824 total (409-415), but Aledo Orange held onto to the second qualifying team spot by five strokes.
“We don’t have a lot of experience, and we almost came back and got it (second place),” said Addison.
Aledo Black won, shooting 670 (334-336).
