Tolar SB falls in opener
A seven-run second inning propelled Stephenville past Tolar 17-5 in the season-opening softball game for both teams Monday.
Tolar jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning, but soon found itself down 10-3 after three innings.
“We started the game with high energy and focus,” said first-year Tolar coach Christie Collie.
Stephenville had its second-inning outburst with two outs.
Taya Vasquez led Tolar at the plate with a 3-3 performance, including a home run and three runs batted in.
“I tell the girls all the time that I can accept physical errors because no one is perfect, but the mental errors are crucial,” said Collie.
