Former Granbury SEAL and Olympic gold medalist swimmer Dana Vollmer battled through what she called a “sinus, head and lungs thing” to finish third and win a bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly at the World Championships in Spain Monday. Vollmer, who now lives in the San Francisco area, had a prelims time of 57.22 and a semifinals time of 57.84. Vollmer set a world record in this event at last year’s Summer Olympics in London when she was clocked in a time of 55.98.
