February 6, 2013

The Strawn Lady Greyhounds surprised the Lipan Lady Indians 61-51 Friday, leaving the teams tied atop District 17-A.

If the teams won last night, Lipan coach Amber Branson said they would meet today to flip a coin for playoff seedings.

Lipan (26-4, 8-1) entered ranked second in the state. Strawn (26-6, 8-1) was sixth. In Monday’s new rankings, Strawn is fifth and Lipan sixth.

Stawn took a 43-16 halftime lead. They then held on by making six of eight free throws in the final minute.

“What we did in the second half is the way we play all the time,” said Branson.

The teams combined for 64 3-point attempts.
