GBA registration

The Granbury Basketball Association is holding registration for the 2014 season. Boys and girls in grades kindergarten-6.

To register, visit or stop by All About Sports. The season runs through January and February.


A hole-in-one was made by Carmine Esposito recently at Pecan Plantation Country Club. He aced No. 14 , a par-3, at a distance of 136 yards with a 9-iron.Witnesses were Ron Kunkle, Ron Matlock and Ray Rodriguez.


The Sixth Annual Granbury Pirate Basketball Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park, beginning at noon with a shotgun start.

The four-person scramble benefits the Granbury Pirate Basketball Booster Club. Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team.

Dinner will follow play. There will be team prizes, hole prizes, mulligans and a raffle.

The Granbury Parks & Recreation Department is holding a Fall Softball Tournament, with the dates to be determined. Co-ed teams will play on Monday and men’s teams will play on Wednesday.

Cost to enter is $175 per team. Contact Josh McGinnis at 817-223-8371.



The First Tee of Granbury will sponsor Family Golf Day today (Saturday) at Granbury Country Club. The all-day event will feature free golf for everyone under 18 and discounted rates for accompanying adults.

All foursomes must include someone under 18. There will be a scramble event with special tee boxes set up for younger children.

There will also 18-hole and nine-hole contests, along with a putting contest. There will also be lots of other games and prizes.
