The Greater Granbury Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will host a fund raising golf tournament in support of the Granbury High School USMC JROTC unit.

The tournament will be held at Pecan Plantation beginning at 1 p.m. on Aug. 17. Proceeds will be used to help fund cadet activities such as leadership training and character building opportunities, as well as various material and equipment needs of the GHS JROTC unit not normally funded by the GISD.

Additionally, some of the proceeds will be designated to support scholarship awards for qualified graduating cadets to attend college or advanced technical training schools as appropriate.

The tournament will feature prizes for best scores, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one contests, as well as other prizes up for bid. Entry fee is $65 per person or $260 per four-person team.

Granbury Country Club will be hosting the First Tee Summer Camp next week (July 8-12) from 9-11 a.m.. The camp is for children ages 6-18.

PGA professionals and certified instructors will be teaching both a life skills curriculum and golf skills. Cost is $50 for one child, $75 for two, or $100 for a family.

The price includes a golf shirt and golf equipment (if needed). Scholarships are available, and no child will ever be turned away.
