VANDER ZEE AMONG

MCDONALD’S NOMINEES

Granbury Lady Pirates’ 6-4 senior post and University of Texas signee Lilley Vander Zee is among the nominees for the McDonald’s All-American Basketball Team. The final rosters will be announced Thursday.

DOUGHTY SETS RECORD

Former Granbury Lady Pirate Tina Doughty hit eight 3-pointers, setting a Utah Valley University single-game record, in an 87-27 victory against Walla Walla recently.

Doughty finished with 27 points. It came on the heels of her scoring a career-high 30 points in a 75-71 come-from-behind win at Houston Baptist.

FORMER LIPAN STAR WINS

TIE-DOWN ROPING EVENT

Randall Carlisle, who set the national high school record for 3-pointers made in a career while at Lipan, won the overall title in tiedown roping at the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo last weekend. He had the top time of 25.7 seconds and won over $11,000.
