Patrick Smith of Lipan is ranked 10th among the team roping-heeler leaders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He has won $46,139 this season.

Stunn Gun, owned by Jlc Performance Horses Lic., Lipan, placed eighth in the Open Division of the Derby Gelding competition at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular at Will Rogers Coliseum. T.J. Good was the rider.

FREE PHYSICALS OFFERED

Ruth’s Place will offer free athletic physicals for qualifying Hood County students ThursdayAug. 8 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Granbury School District Conference Center on Bridge Street. The Hood County schools and the University Interscholastic League require students to receive an athletic physical examination prior to taking part in any practices or competitions.

Ruth’s Place doctors will provide the physicals. The event is part of Operation School Supplies, a local charitable organizagion that provides school supplies to needy Hood County children in Granbury or Tolar schools whose families are in economic need. ROTC GOLF BENEFIT

The Greater Granbury Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will host a fund raising golf tournament in support of the Granbury High School USMC JROTC unit.

The tournament will be held at Pecan Plantation beginning at 1 p.m. on Aug. 17. Proceeds will be used to help fund cadet activities such as leadership training and character building opportunities, as well as various material and equipment needs of the Granbury High JROTC unit not normally funded by the GISD.

Additionally, some of the proceeds will be designated to support scholarship awards for qualified graduating cadets to attend college or advanced technical training schools.

The tournament will feature prizes for best scores, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one contests, as well as other prizes up for bid. Entry fee is $65 per person or $260 per four-person team. Sponsorship donations are also available.
