The Granbury Shockwave advanced to the semifinals of both the Pinto sectional and regional tournaments in summer PONY (Protect Our Nation’s Youth) recreation softball all-star competition.
Difficulties against Aledo and the North Texas Tigers led to their elimination as they were 1-4 in games against those opponents and 4-0 against other foes with a 59-18 runs advantage.
At sectionals, Granbury had little trouble defeating White Settlement 16-3 before losing a 9-8 thriller to Aledo. Then, after bouncing back with a 15-2 convincing win over Weatherford and a 14-6 victory against Crush, they were ousted by the North Texas Tigers 9-4.
At regionals, Granbury began wtih a 14-10 victory against White Settlement and remained in the winners bracket as they got some revenge with a 7-5 win over the Tigers.
They then fell 10-7 to Aledo and were eliminated by the Tigers 10-4.
BASEBALL ALL-STARS IN TOWN
Granbury is also hosting an All-Star Tournament this weekend, and the games will be played using PONY rules. The tournament, played at City Park, will feature 36 teams in five divisions.
Granbury has seven teams entered in the field. They include Purple in 6-Under, Purple and Gold teams in 8-Under, a 9U squad and 10U team in the 10-Under division, an 11U team in 12-Under, and a 14U team in 14-Under.
This is the third all-star tournament Granbury is hosting this summer, including a softball all-star tournament and baseball all-star tournament last month.
