Once on the verge of falling out of playoff contention, the Tolar Rattlers are now smack-dab in the middle of the postseason race after rallying to defeat Rio Vista 3-2 at home Tuesday for their third consecutive win.
The Rattlers began District 10-2A with an 0-3 record.
Once again the Rattlers (12-8 overall, 3-3 in district) came from behind for the victory. Rio Vista scored twice in the opening inning, but Tolar fought back to tie the game in the third and scored the winning run in the fourth on an error.
Dusty Kimmel pitched a four-hitter for the Rattlers, giving up two unearned runs.
“We’ve helped ourselves with some great pitching,” said Tolar coach Trey Holcomb. “We haven’t hit the ball as well as we’re capable, but we’ve been timely with the hits.”
Six different Rattlers got one base hit in the win, including a double by Landon Morris, the game’s only extra-base hit.
