The 2012 Tolar baseball season was something of an enigma.
The Rattlers had talent. Just ask state semifinalist Brock, who had to rally from a huge deficit at home to win 9-8.
However, Tolar went from a strong start to 1-13 in district.
Six returning starters has coach Trey Holcomb things will be different this season.
“I strongly believe we will be a playoff team this season, and with hard work and a few well-timed blessings we could even compete for the district title,” he said.
Returning starters for the Rattlers are senior first baseman/pitcher Cole Chism (7 doubles, 9 RBIs), sophomore shortstop/pitcher Dusty Kimmel (.344 average, 7 doubles, 17 RBIs; 3-3, 3.38 ERA), sophomore third baseman/catcher Dakota Endsley (.310 average, 10 RBIs), senior outfielder/pitcher Oompa Glavin (.288, 12 RBIs), senior outfielder/pitcher Tyler Phillips, and senior outfielder Alfredo Triana.
Holcomb describes the Rattlers’ major strength as pitching.
“We have a lot of it,” he said.
