The Tolar Rattlers broke into the win column in District 10-2A in a big way Tuesday, rolling to a 15-1 victory at Godley.
The Rattlers pounded out 11 hits and scored much more than enough to back the four-hit pitching of Lance Smith.
Tolar (9-6 overall) had dropped its first three district games.
“We went back to work (Monday) and worked the kids hard and tried to change their approach at the plate,” said Tolar coach Darrell Hogan.
Tolar batters were patient, and did not receive a single called third strike against them, something that brought a smile to Hogan’s face.
Dusty Kimmell had a pair of doubles and a single and drove in four runs for the Rattlers. Also, Corbin Wood had two singles and two RBIs, and Dakota Endsley had a pair of singles.
“I’m real proud of their performance,” Hogan said. “Lance did a great job on the mound once again.”
