The Tolar Rattlers picked a good time to get their first basketball win of the season, topping visiting Maypearl 57-47 Tuesday in a District 10-2A game.

The Rattlers (1-8, 1-1 in district) finished with a 17-7 run. They were aided by a technical against Maypearl, followed by an intentional foul.

“They started pressing and we were able to get some baskets,” said Tolar coach Kent Caruthers.

“It was a great win. The kids are fired up.”

Hunter Ryan led Tolar with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Dakota Endsley added 11 points and seven rebounds.

“Things came together. We moved the ball well,” said Caruthers. “We still had a few more turnovers than I like, but we played really good defense.”

Maypearl’s top two scorers were averaging 23 and 16 points. The Rattlers held them to 14 and 9.
